1. The distance for each pull shall be 12 ft, but distance less than 12 ft will be used to determine winner or placement at the end of the contest. There will be three tries to pull 12 ft
2. The distance between side boundaries shall be 15 ft width, if problems arise we will set back to 12 ft for smaller teams. The teams and load must stay within said boundaries while pulling. Any part of team or load over boundaries will void pull. (Mule must step completely over line to void pull). Re-set stake for 2nd pull, if 2nd pull is void, Re-set stake for 3rd and final pull and you must pull full 12ft or distance to win pull.
3. Any command by the driver to go, will be counted as a pull and measurement will be recorded except in case of breakage which entitles team to another pull.
4. Whistle or signal shall be given when team has made the distance or committed an error nullifying distance. Driver must stop team immediately after signal.
5. A three person (or less) team will be determined before the contest begins. After first pull by your team no changes will be made in team members except in the case of an injury or emergency.
6. In no case will head person or hitcher be allowed to touch load or mules while team is pulling. Once team is hitched, head person and hitcher must immediately step to the side of the boundaries and cannot return to the court until pull has been completed.
7. Drivers shall not prod, whip or touch animals while pulling, and shall drive with reasonably tight lines. In no case will driver be allowed to swirl or shake line over mules or above their head while pulling. No driver will be allowed to jump doubletree.
8. Undue abusive treatment to animals on or off the pulling field will not be tolerated. Also profanity will not be tolerated. Any one of these may disqualify contestants.
9. Any animal judged unfit to pull (for any reason) shall be denied the privilege to pull.
10. No stimulants allowed - neither drugs, shots nor any device added to equipment will be allowed - any one caught using stimulants will be disqualified from contest.
11. Team members must have their team under control at all times - failure to do so may cause disqualification. Judges may disqualify any team that becomes unmanageable or difficult to handle and in the opinion of the judges becomes dangerous to the public.
12. Drivers must be ready when their turn comes to pull. Willful waiting will not be tolerated. Three trials at trying to hook, with a three minute time limit to complete pull, if fail, you are out of the pull or disqualified.
13. In case of breakage, team will leave the court and come in at end of round for its turn and pick up their proper place in the next round.
14. In case of tie for longest distance, teamsters are required to pull it off.
15. No snatch pulling, by this, we mean that after your team is hitched to the load there can be no slack in the trace chains that will allow the load to be snatched.
